Had to do a 2 hour torture test...
So I got a phone call from my OB's office last week that my something or other level came back high and I had to go do a 2 hour glucose test. TORTURE. I went last Friday and I seriously thought I was going to die in the process.
1) I had to fast, which at 8 weeks pregnant with full blown morning sickness is torture in and of itself. I HAVE to have protein in the morning or I am sick all day. 2) They opened at 7:30, I arrived at 7:45 and it took them nearly an HOUR to call me back to even START the damn test. Seriously. They kept calling people back that had arrived after me and after 45 minutes I finally got fed up and tore into the front desk guy. It was bad. 3) That awful glucose drink is torture enough at 24 weeks, but at 8 weeks? Ya, I was lucky to keep it down. 4) The waiting room they put me in had a TV. Great! Not so much. It had 3 channels: Spanish, cartoons, or Spanish cartoons. I was glad I brought a magazine. 5) When it was time for my 1 hour blood draw, the lady they had in there apparently had almost all of her blood taken out because she passed out in the chair. I felt bad for her, but I was REALLY worried that since my "1 hour" was a few minutes late that they might make me re-do the entire thing. Thankfully they didn't. I ended up getting through the 2 hour torture test, but I seriously would love to live my entire life without ever having to go through that again.

Yuck. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope I don't fall into whatever risk criteria they use for early screening.

Oh, geez that sounds terrible. I'm glad you passed though. I never heard of a 2 hour test just the 1 hour and the 3 hour. My first doctor wanted me to do the 1 hour test at 9 weeks and I didn't even want to do that. I'm glad I waited to see the new doctor who didn't think there was a point in it.

Re: Had to do a 2 hour torture test...
I refuse the test and just take my blood glucose level 4 times per day for 2 weeks and turn it into my physician
I personally feel that it's way too risky to deprive your system of everything, including water and then flood your system with glucose.
