Chicken pox has tons and tons of little dots that are SUPER itchy. IF it is chicken pox you're going to need to keep everyone home and until all of the dots are scabbed over. Call your doctor! and keep your husband away from both kids and you. No contact if he hasn't had it or isn't vaccinated. I got chicken pox when i was 10 and it sucked.

Re: i think dd has chicken pox!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes even if he is symptom free he could still be contagious. I think it has up to a 14 day incubation period. They usually start on the trunk and continue to spread for one to three days I believe. Once they have scabbed over they should no longer be contagious. If DD is vaxed she would likely get a mild form. I would keep them both away from other kids honestly right now until you get a diagnosis for her. It could be something else. DS got it naturally but DD has never had it. I kinda would rather her get it than the vax if she could possibly get them anyway.

Re: i think dd has chicken pox!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter had chicken pox in April.

They start out as small bumps but they blister in about 1-3 days.

They say you can NOT diagnose chicken pox on the first day. You have to wait till the 2nd or 3rd day because often they won't have blistered yet. The blisters are the identifying sign. They look like a watery blister that could be popped. They will continue to get more and more spots for about a week then start drying up and scabbing over. If your Dd has been vaxed it's not likely she has them but it's still possible. How many days has it been?

Here's some pictures and a link for more info.

also they are contagious about 1-3 days BEFORE they break out with the rash and they are contagious untill ALL the spots have scabbed over.

My DD got it from her cousin a day before he broke out with spots. The incubation period is 10-21 days. DD broke out on day 11.
