Breastmilk Instead of Saline

I had pink eye a year ago after my daughter was hospitalized for pneumonia it was bad my eye's were red puffy and crusted shut I started putting freshly expressed breast milk in them and within 3 days the pink eye was completely gone

Maybe one infection is bacterial and one is viral, or something, and the BM affects one differently than the other.

I had an infection a few years ago that baffled both my optometrist and I. I don't remember what it was called but it was contacts related and the doctor described it as the surface of my eye looking as if someone grated it. My eyes were runny, burning and red, and so sensitive to light that I ended up having to take two weeks off work to stay inside, in darkness. I couldn't even read because the reflection from the paper bothered me. Turns out I was one of the first individuals to have an allergic reaction to the new silicone covered Acuvue Oasis contacts. Acuvue paid for my medical care, reimbursed me for the two weeks off work, and purchased a set of my old contacts for me. I wouldn't have risked trying breastmilk in that kind of infection; it was terrible.

I have not heard of using BM instead of saline spray, good to know. I Know BM provides many benefits for baby, looks like I need to read up more

Yes! I use it for the whole family when they get conjunctivitis, even DH , and it works SO much better than abx!

He-he......I told my pediatrician this once and DH thought I was nuts. Think it was for a stye or an ear infection.

She wasn't too suprised and figured it couldn't hurt.....
