Regular fabric softener on non-diaper laundry
I love to use fabric softener on my sheets & towels. I was putting it in the dispenser of my washer so it would be added to the final rinse. But the dispenser gets build-up, etc., and I'm too lazy to clean it after every use, so now that I do diapers in the same washer (separately, w/out softener) I've been just adding softener right into the tub with the laundry soap. Does anyone else do this? Okay to do, or probably a bad idea that may eventually cause repelling due to softener build-up in my washer? Right now we just use pocket diapers.

Re: Regular fabric softener on non-diaper laundry
It's not a good idea for the reasons you listed. But I would try it for a while and see how your diapers are smelling/feeling when they are done. If there's any hint of softener then I'd probably stop. I think if they don't smell bad then you'll probably just end up having to strip a little more often because of the build-up.
