Re: One in a million is not always a good thing

My sister recently had a baby who is in and out of the hospital. To stay at the Ronald McDonald house she needs to apply ahead of time because of scheduling of the rooms. Hope all goes well.

Re: One in a million is not always a good thing

The dr at U of M does not want to do the meds because she dose not believe they will help. Even though she is not the specialist in this field she is unwilling to follow the protocol set up by Dr. Berenstein.

We found out that we are going to have to be in New York next Tuesday. This is very scary. Ronald McDonald house will not take us before the baby is born. You must have a pediatric patient and technically I am the patient right now. The hospital can set us up in an apt for $100 a night. I have NO IDEA how we are going to pay for it. We also have to find the funds to fly there which is going to be around 600-700 from what I am seeing online. I just don't know what we are going to do. The money just isn't in our account to pay for this. We have set up a fundraiser http://fnd.us/c/1JqIb For those of you who would be willing to share that link and try to help us raise money for this journey it is much appreciated. We are looking into every avenue we can to find help to get our daughter this treatment. It is just such a scary place to be on so many levels its hard to even really take it all in......

If u have a reliable car it would be good to drive and save $$ that way. I'm asking a friend in NJ right now.. Dh on phone w him. He has connections. How long do u need to stay ? I have friends there but we need a bit more information. Look at Redeemer Church as well... They might be able to help as well... Also Hostelling International New york City on Amsterdam Ave has family rooms.

Amanda has a good idea there. I think contacting some local churches in the area and telling them what's going on may be a good way to get some help, perhaps someone has an apartment they can rent you or even a room you could stay in or something.

Thank you so much for your efforts in helping us. I appreciate it so so much I am not sure how long we will be there. We have to arrive on Tues. and it sounds like we will be there at least two weeks for this stay. However there is a good possibility we will be staying until I deliver which hopefully will be around July 22nd or so. We do have a reliable vehicle. The only issue is if we drive it there we would have to pay parking which seems to be very expensive. I do see the number below and will look into that.

Thank you everyone else for your support and prayers

PS: Thank you for the suggestion but I looked at Hostelling International New york City but it is $30/ night for each bed times 3-4 beds is as much or more than the apts the hospital can set us up with for $100 a night. Plus those apts are across the street from the hospital so that cuts transportation cost.

The reason I'm asking is I have a friend in jersey with access to the bus to NYC and its close 20 min or so that I can call to see if she has a room. Then the cost is reduced due to no flying for 4 and a bus fare is cheaper than paying for parking. I do think your best bet is the church. My friend goes to a sister church near Danville, nj and suggested. this church in manhattan (redeemer) has a pretty famous pastor named Tim Keller who is an amazing man of God.

If u go with the hostel, ask about parking. It costs $10 to cross the bridge and go through the tunnels into manhattan at this time from jersey. I'm still thinking... LEt us know about the church and what they say.

I was thinking along the same lines. If you find a place in northern jersey, depending on where it is, there's buses and trains that will take you right into NYC and it will be cheaper then staying in Manhattan. I wish I could help more, I'm in Florida now and have no contacts up there anymore.

I'm in Florida too, but still have some contacts up north. I just put a call out on my fb page.
