Making plans to wean
My little one is just about 11 months. She has always been a good nurser and eater, picked it up right away. I also cloth diaper and work full time! I know I'm crazy but I want the best for her. I am reluctant to wean for obvious reasons but with my work schedule and making sure I pump enough for her (I'm gone 10 1/2 hours a day with my commute), I'm ready.
She has milk 6x/day. Solids for 3 meals plus a snack with juice. Her weight is right on track and starting to dip because she is getting more mobile. Just looking for pointers on how to start when she turns 1. Thanks ~Becky (married to my high school sweetheart since 10/04, baby A since 6/11, BF'ing, CD'ing, FULL TIME working mom) |

Re: Making plans to wean
How much are you still pumping at work? If she is still taking that much milk a day though I would be reluctant to sub with cows milk. You might want to look at toddler formula. If you want to start weaning I would start by dropping one pump at work.

Re: Making plans to wean
I single pump (with her nursing the other side) before work and then double pump at work. I get 2 1/2 bottles between the two pumping sessions. I nurse her 3-4x/day on days that I work. I was thinking I could start to wean by subbing a cow's mild for breastmilk 1x per day and working up from there.

I pump-weaned right when DS was one, but still went up to his daycare at lunch and nursed him until he was 18 months. He is still nursing at 2 1/2, so it's definitely possible to wean from pumping while continuing to nurse. I'd just gradually decrease the pumping sessions one by one and sub in some other milk or toddler formula once your supply/stash is less than what your LO is drinking.
