How many flats ??

I plan on switching to flats only. I love how they wash up. I will be using them exclusively for my 6 month old. I was thinking that I will use 2 pad folded for each of my older daughters for night time (total of 4). So how many dozen do you think I need if I was every other day? Also what is your wash routine with these? I have a front loader. TIA!

Re: How many flats ??

I had 5 dozen to use on my two older boys at night (doubled) and two babies (toddler and newborn) It was MORE than enough. I think 3 or 4 would work nicely. I washed every M-W-F and did a handwash delicate cycle on warm with detergent and then a full sanitary cycle with the second rinse option with detergent and bleach. Worked wonderfully! I usually had about 2 to 3 dozen flats per load.

Re: How many flats ??

I would do 4-5 dozen. But then I have 15 dozen flats so I like more rather than less. You may have to double up on your toddler. I do diaper laundry every 3 days. When doing diapers I keep the water on HOT for every cycle. I do a hot prewash using detergent to help get rid of yuckies. Then a hot 6 hour soak with detergent and oxyclean(top loader). I stop my wash cycle after it has agitated couple of minutes to distribute the detergent and oxyclean. Then I stop the washer and let it soak overnight. So at least 6 hours and sometimes up to 8 hours. In the morning I resume the wash cycle and Finnish with 2 hot rinses with a natural fabric softener in the last rinse cycle. So far I rarely get stains and only in my hemp fitteds or my 4 hemp flats. No stinkies yet either.

I have a top loader

Re: How many flats ??

I would go with 4 dozen personally. I don't like feeling like I HAVE to fold today if something comes up. For nights we have good luck with one flat wrapped around a JoeyBunz or 2 Hemp Babies so if that worked for you it would be fewer every night.
