Evenflo Maestro
Any thoughts on the Evenflo Maestro?
My sister moved her DS out of his Britax convertible and into a HBB once he hit the weight limit. She recently read that 3yrs, 30lbs is no longer the rule for boostering, and would like to get him back into a 5 point harness. She is considering the Evenflo Maestro b/c of its flexibility and high weight limit. Any opinions on this seat or suggestions for another? Her DS is 5.5 y.o., 45.5 lbs, and 43 in tall. Thanks!

Re: Evenflo Maestro
I have one for DS and like it. If her son fits in it, it is a nice little seat. Light, cheap, easy to install.
My daughter is 5 and is right at the top slots, and she is 41" tall, so he may have already outgrown it by height.

Re: Evenflo Maestro
We have one as our travel seat and we like it very much. DS regularly rides in a Britax Blvd (He's 4.5, 38 lb, about 41 in) and he also likes the Maestro.
I'm curious as to why she moved him out of the convertible, even in the older Britaxes the FF weight limit is 55-60 lbs. at least for our Blvd it is (It's the rear-facing limit that's only 35 lb). Although by now he may have outgrown it by height? Anyway, we like the Maestro, it's very easy to install and is supposed to make a good HBB later on (we've only used it harnessed).

Re: Evenflo Maestro
Is he not sitting properly in his booster? If not, then he can be reharnessed in the Maestro, or a Securekid or Nautilus. If he does sit well, though, I would not move an over 40lb 5.5 year old back into a harness.

Yes, he sits properly, she just wants to have him harnessed again for improved safety (whether real or imagined). Why wouldn't you put a 5.5 y.o. back in a harness, too old? Insight greatly appreciated!

Re: Evenflo Maestro
I would not put a 5.5 year old back in a harness because there is no proof that a harness is safer at that age and size provided that the child sits properly. I see it as a waste of money because there is no improved safety.

At that age, I'd harness if the kiddo couldn't sit properly, but I'd leave him in the booster if he's used to it and fits and sits properly.

Re: Evenflo Maestro
to the above. It's not that he's less safe in a harness, or that it's bad to put him in a harness.
