Re: When to pack the "Go Bag?"

I think I'm gonna try to have my bag ready to go by 35 weeks. My 4th baby, numbers 2 and 3 came ON their due date... I'm wondering if this baby won't come a week or so early.. just a feeling I have. I don't need much since I'm going to a birth center and will be home within a few hours after the birth. But I do have some things to pick up.

God bless!

Re: When to pack the "Go Bag?"

With baby #1 we had just moved 4 days before (38w) and I had planned on packing it that weekend. Had him on a Friday with nothing packed, washed, put together or ready in any way.

So with baby #2 I thought I would pack it at 37 weeks...had him at 36w 3d

By baby #3 I had it packed and ready to go at 35 weeks, luckily she held out until 37 weeks.

Oh my. LOL
Not to be mean, but your post made me

Yeah... I think 35 weeks is good for number 4.

I have to pack
For Me:
-A bottle of peroxide with spray nozzle
-Waterproof bed pads
-Snitary pads
-Three nursing tanks (birthing tub available if I want it... so one to wear, one to change into if I get out of the tub before the baby is born, and clean one for after baby is born)
-Labor skirt
-Snacks/energy drinks
-Cell phone charger
-Toiletries if I want to shower at the birth center after.
-Going home clothes
-MP3 Player with music, small speakers

For Baby:
-Going home clothes for baby
-Diapers

So.. not as much as if I were going to the hospital... but still, wanna have it ready.

God bless!

It's not A LOT more than I packed for the hospital with my first two.

But I think the main thing is that they don't provide a lot of things the hospital does.. like sanitary pads or the waterproof bed pads.

And of course the hospital won't let you eat, so I didn't need snacks. But my midwife encourages you to pack snacks to eat if you're hungry...

I told DH I want to have the bag ready to go by 35 weeks. I'm 25 weeks today.

Going to start buying things (chapstick, nursing tanks, etc) next paycheck.

God bless!

Looking back it makes me laugh now. At least with my second I could throw things in a bag before we left for the hospital, I hadn't even unpacked any baby stuff yet with our first. My MIL had to go to our house, find and unpack the baby clothes, wash them, and bring them to us at the hospital along with our car seat

But it made me see just how little we could get by with and still be completely fine!

Re: When to pack the "Go Bag?"

I'll be 32 weeks on Tuesday, and plan on starting to pack this week. I just want to cross it off my to-do list. Today I washed the bag I'm taking along.

With my first, I ended up packing most of my hospital bag after my water broke at home. I had started packing it and had everything I needed, but DS came 10 days early and it was something I hadn't gotten around to finishing by then. I still remember packing it and talking on the phone to my family, all non-chalantly, while DH was downstairs panicking.

I'm going to go shopping for the stuff I need sometime in the next few days (toiletries, new nursing tanks, stuff for healing, etc.) and then I will pack.

2,014 items in 2014?

Yeah, DH gets paid on Wednesday, I'm going to go shopping that following weekend to buy some of the stuff I need that I don't have... new nursing tanks, bed pads, post partum pads.. and some re-chargable batteries for the kids Innotab and to make sure I have fresh batteries ready to go for my camera.

God bless!

I see those throw away paper bed pads all the time on Craigslist. NIP for cheap.
