Recommendations for a chunk.
My almost 3 month is around 15 pounds.
We've got an infantino carrier, but even on the largest setting his poor middle is getting really squished. In weight and height he's about equal to 6+ month old, however he still needs newer baby support for his neck and back. What is a good carrier you would recommend to use with him??

Re: Recommendations for a chunk.
I'd say your best bets would be a good SSC (soft structured carrier), a mei tai, or a woven wrap. All three will allow for front carries for now and back carries too, once you are comfortable with that. A SSC would probably be the easiest to use, followed by the mei tai, and then the woven wrap. Some good brands to look for:
SSC- Beco, Boba, Ergo Mei Tai- BabyHawk, FreeHand, Kozy Woven Wrap- BBslen, Colimacon et Cie, Girasol Hope that helps... let us know if you need more help deciding which would suit you best!

Re: Recommendations for a chunk.
I've loved my Beco Butterfly II with our chunk. He is now over 25 lbs (19 months) and I'm still wearing him in it. It's pretty supportive, IMO, for both mom and baby. If you don't have a place near by to try one out, PAXbaby.com has a rental program where you can try out several types of carriers before you commit to one.

Re: Recommendations for a chunk.
I'm glad you posted this. My little guy is about the same size as yours. We got a Ktan and I am worried it might be a little heavy for it. We haven't tried it yet though. Thanks sbspraguesmith for posting the rental site, might have to check that out!

Yup both DDs are chunks! I used a moby w.dd1 until she could be in the ergo. This time I have a woven wrap and it's more comfortable with a heavier baby (DD2 is 6 weeks 12-13lb).

I LOVED my Beco Gemini with my chunky boy. Still loving it for back carries at 1 yr old too

Re: Recommendations for a chunk.
My LO is 15 lbs, and has been about that since 2 months! He's only been growing in height recently, thank goodness, spread some of that chunk out!
Anyhow, I'm a wrapper. And when I get him wrapped up properly it is so comfy! That being said, if you get a mei tai that fits properly (they have to be sized to baby which is why I dont use them) that will be great too. Have you thought about a pod? They fit all ages but are more like a mei tai than wrap. Anyhow, a Storchenwiege Leo is a great wrap, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Re: Recommendations for a chunk.
That time period was awkward for us- I have a 24 lb 5 month baby. The Ergo wasn't comfy for him since he couldn't spread his legs the way it would need and the infant insert was bulky with a huge baby. The moby was comfy for him mostly, but way heavy for me. We just kind of made our way past that brief stage and now we are both happy with the Ergo. It seems to me that if I had to have a great carrier for that time it would have been a mei tai.

Re: Recommendations for a chunk.
^^^ I agree that a mei tei is what I used in this in between stage ( for us in between the moby and using the SSC all the time).
