Re: Gender- Do You Find Out?

I have no idea. It's hard for me to look that far ahead. I know dh wants the surprise and I love the idea but if this one sticks, s/he will be born about 2 years after we started ttc and I kinda feel like I've waited long enough. But then I go back to loving the idea of the surprise... that moment would be like Christmas times a million. And plus not finding out, gives me an excuse to buy both gender fluff. You know... to be prepared. And I can't possibly do gn with baby #1. Hehe.

So we'll see!
When our second was born, there were several moments that passed when we were just basking in the awesomeness of a gigantic (10# 4oz) healthy baby born at home, and nobody said anything about "what" it was. Then, after a while, it dawned on my DH that nobody had asked and he hadn't looked - so then he did, and announced that it was a boy!

The BEST part was that time in between, the time of pure, un-planned elation, when it was just us and our new babe, without the pre-conceived notions of how our lives and the life of this new being would be shaped with "two boys" or "pink frilly dresses" or other stereotypes. It was pure, simple joy - a new life, not a new "boy" or a "little girl". There is always time for gender shaping and ideas of who this new person will be, but to continue the wonder that comes in early pregnancy - the idea of a new little life, and the simple precious-ness and wonder of it all - right through to the moment when we are holding that new life in our arms - well, that's the reason why I don't want to know - it truly is magical! And, once you know, you can't go back! :-)
