Why would 4mth old be unhappy nursing?

DS has times where he seems pissed at my boobs. Fusses, grunts, pulls, arches... most of the time he's perfectly content but fairly frequently lately he seems so unhappy with them lol.

He does have reflux...maybe its that bothering him? Taste cuz I got my first period last week? (yeah wtf is that about at 4mths???? grrrr), I know it's not supply I can pump 6oz in 5min

Arching most often equals reflux. It's not a cause for alarm unless you think he needs medical invention. Many babies have bouts of mild reflux.

Also, in my experience, my kids were eating more and annoyed I was empty. Is he nursing more frequently? My 2 also had teeth a 4 months and sometimes it was just teething.

his reflux is fairly bad. i tried to wean him off zantac a month ago and by 2nd day he cried all day . hes got 4mth appt this fri i'll have to check w/ dr

You may want to inquire about rice cereal. I've heard it does wonders. Good luck!

4 months of age is the start of Distractible baby. Stick with what you are Doing. It passes. No rice cereal needed. Try to nurse laying down. It helps tremendously

It's a touch early, but possibly teething? My DD1 cut her first 2 teeth at 3 months.

Our feeding specialist said reflux peaks between 4-6mos.

Have you tried adjusting your diet? We did see some improvement after cutting dairy and soy and we just cut gluten as well. A friend of mine just cut a whole bunch of things - her doctor said her baby didn't have reflux at all - he just had many many allergies!

Oh also zantac is pretty bad...from everything I have heard it is the least effection prescription med for reflux. We are goign to switch

I second changing your diet, our 20 month old did SO much better after I cut out dairy and chocolate.

no dairy? I would cry. I hear people say it for some things. What are true signs of dairy intolerance?

It would really make me miserable, I'm a chef and I try to eat fairly low carb as I have insulin issues. No dairy sounds like the end of the world to me
