best back support?
What carrier do you feel provides the best back support with a front carry? I have back problems and want to see if I should try another carrier. Currently have a beco butterfly (I think butterfly not gemini) It works ok, but my back acts up very fast which may happen with any. I also don't really like having the panel between me and bubs and I know many carriers don't have that.
TIA

Re: best back support?
A woven wrap because you can do so many different carries to suit you. You could also try a half buckle tai like an Olives and Applesauce or a custom wrap conversion mei tai like Obimama. That way you have straps that tie instead of buckle for better adjusting.

How old is your baby? Back carries will always tend to be more comfortable than front carries, especially if you have a bad back...

She is 6 months but barely 13 pounds. My only reservation about back carry is I can't hear her or see her (I am deaf) so harder for me. I used a sleepy wrap when she was younger- didn't mind it but didn't love it either so not sure about a woven wrap. I suck at wraps!

Re: best back support?
Stretchy wraps are very different from woven wraps, so even if you didn't love the Sleepy Wrap you may still really like a woven wrap! Another good option may be a mei tai made from a woven wrap (also known as a wrap conversion mei tai) or even just a regular padded waist mei tai with wider shoulder straps. Most people find the most comfort in a front carry when they can cross the shoulder straps in an "X" across their back. Woven wraps, mei tais, and some (but not all) soft structured/buckle carriers can do that.
Good luck in your search. I hope you find a comfy carrier soon!

Re: best back support?
Hmmm I wonder if just a high back carry would be good, you could still see her over your shoulder. You can use a woven wrap or a mei tai...If you still want to try front carries what about a half buckle? Structured waist and mei tai top straps. A couple I like are the Olives and applesauce and angelpack half buckles

Re: best back support?
I like the Gemini for little ones with the straps crossed like an X or a Beco 4th Gen. I can't stand the Butterfly II for front carries (though it is one of my favorites for back carries).
