Ready to start our adoption journey

...but I have NO clue how or where to start!
DH and I have always wanted to adopt, and we are really wanting to begin the process of adoption, but we have no idea how to get started. I have done some online searches, and there is just SO much information out there...We know that we want to do a domestic infant adoption.
Does anyone have some good information or tips to point us in the right direction to get started? I know that these things can take a long time, and I am just SO excited to get satarted! Thanks!

Start with finding a local agency to do your home study. Then you have several options of agency (does not have to be a local one but if you use local then they will require that they do your home study), attorney or private or a combination (which I would do). Google and there are lots of comments about agency's and look at the yahoo groups, especially under adoption scams for more help with things.

Hi there~that's so exciting your family is thinking about adopting! But, I know it can be a bit overwhelming to wade through all the information out there. So, I wanted to mention a website that might help you out. I've often shared it with other families like yourself while working at Focus on the Family. It's called ICareAboutOrphans.org and has a section titled "Considering Adoption." Focus also has some information on beginning the adoption process if you do a search on their site. So, just FYI.
