Re: VBAC Mamas

Yesterday was my 34th week prenatal visit. I asked the doctor why breech births are now a "lost art". She explained to me that a study came out in about 2001 that said a breech baby's APGAR score is higher with a C-Section than vaginal delivery. However, she did assure me that she is comfortable with doing breech deliveries. She also shared that while she was a resident she spent some time in Africa training where vaginal breech deliveries are not uncommon.

Additionally, she said to me "babies deliver themselves". She told me she always stands back until she sees the shoulders even if it is a breech delivery.

At 34 weeks, my baby still has not turned, but again she assured me it's not even something that's she's concerned about until 36 weeks.

However, I am super excited because the doctor is SUPER SUPPORTIVE of me having a VBAC at 16 months after my last delivery. I think she is using the power of positive thinking with me because each visit she starts off with "We're going to have this baby vaginally this time."
