I would do the pre-wash on warm IR hit so it loosens the poop that's still in them. I've never had a problem with stains unless it was a diaper that went way too long between washings. Also, I bought cheap fleece from Joanns and made fleece liners. I use them on most changes since she doesn't always poop at the same time every day. Makes it super easy to plop it off and I never have to rinse.
Also, I bleach every load and don't.have a problem with my pockets. I pit it in the pre so by the time it washes and then rinses there is no smell. Autocorrect has helped me type this.

Re: Really frustrated.
Thanks everyone. I think I am finally going to invest in a sprayer then. I'm going to hand scrub the ones that have the issue tonight with some simple green or something and then hopefully get a sprayer on two day shipping from Amazon. I'll also do some bleach when I rewash them.
I don't care about stains at all. Is that all the cold rinse is for? I thought that cold helped get the poop off, because everyone says to do a cold rinse first to remove any remaining poop. Because I could totally do that first rinse hot if that might help too. I doubt I'm going to be reselling sunbabys after two kids, so stains don't matter at all.

Re: Really frustrated.
Oh, you know what? I also just thought of it...obviously, you can't leave them soak forever or anything, but a soak in auto dishwashing detergent might help...I read somewhere that it's formulated to break down proteins (which makes sense in a dishwasher). I've used the detergent & hot water to get out spit-up stains & it has worked well...maybe it'll help w/ things that come out the other end as well

Re: Really frustrated.
A cold pre-rinse never did anything for me. I could do one with EBF poop, and it would look exactly the same as it went in. Warm rinses, on the other hand, work much better!

Re: Really frustrated.
Agreed! My washer doesn't have a warm rinse, so I just run them through a warm quick wash before doing the heavy duty wash with detergent. It made a big difference! I also found 12 mo poo to be much worse than 9-10 mo! Even though she's still BF

I think a warm rinse would work just as well as a cold one, some think warmer temps do a better job breaking up the yuckies. I don't really know for sure.
