when to start solids on preemie twins...
My twins are 5 months old (3 months adjusted next week) and if I'm eating while feeding them they refuse to take their bottle but will continue to be cranky and eat their hands... Are these signs that they are wanting to start solids? Is it too early?

Do they try and grab food while your eating? That is usually the big giveaway. A really good book is child-led weaning, if your interested in a good read

Re: when to start solids on preemie twins...
Signs that they are ready: Can sit up on their own, unassisted; No tongue thrush, meaning if you put something in their mouths they don't automatically push it out with their tongue; around the middle of their first year, and since they are preemies might mean closer to 8 months; able to grab, pincher style and put thing in their mouth; teeth, but not always, my lo didn't get any til 10 months but started solids around 8 months. Hope this helps!

Re: when to start solids on preemie twins...
We asked our pedi at my twins' 4-month appointment if we could start with cereal, and we got the go ahead. He also told us we could try solids at 6 months. My girls were 35 weekers though, so just over a month earlier. I would definitely look for the signs PP have mentioned. Our girls were STARING at our food and reaching for it all the time at just before 6 months!
