If they dont get clean enough stink and rashes from bacteria can crop up. FWIW, I had terrible luck with Rockin Green in my top loader. Do a search on the forum. There's lots of negativity surrounding it.

Boston's stash was GMs and then I switched to BG Bamboo fitteds, Dream-Eze, and Bumstoppers. Under wool.

I washed in Washing Greens detergent.

The new stash is 9 BG fitteds, 7 random fitteds, 7 BG Organics, 7 BG 4.0s and 7 Flips with flats plus one Econobum cover. That's one days worth of diapers in each style for each workday. But I really don't like PUL. Maybe I'll see how my fitteds do. I'm just scared to ruin them.

I suppose I'll wash in Tide He though I don't like the chemicals in mainstream detergents.

I have a basic ken more fl, and in general it has cleaned better than the tl it replaced.
I have fitteds, prefolds n covers, pockets (bg, alvas). Cding for almost a year now.
I have hard water and don't wet pail. I use disposable liner for peanut butter poo. When a lot of poop gets on a particular diaper, I squirt diluted dawn on the area. Same for any stain.
I do 2 cycles w no extra rinse. First bulky cycle w half recommended liquid detergent on warm/warm. Second heavy duty cycle w half recommended powder detergent and oxy on hot/cold.
No rashes, occasional stickies. I use more dawn and or sanitize cycle when that happens. I do think having more water is key. I always check that the first cycle has water level I can see and that it is very sudsy.
