I'm sorry Mel, I didn't want to upset you. I am sure your students and their parents will think well of you because you do love your work and you make the effort. I've seen that in the little notes the student have written to you. You're a great teacher!

I wish it was different with Shannon's teacher but sadly it isn't. We've been through this too often with her. She doesn't mark the work the kids do regularly so she has no idea what they are doing until months later sometimes. Then stuff like this happens. I mean how does a teacher not see that a child hasn't done any work on a project that involves 9 pieces of work to be done for it. I would have caught it but that was work that was only done in school.

We've tried talking to her but all she says is that the kids need to work independently and that they have their assignments which they have to complete. She doesn't keep track of the kids work they are doing at all during the week. It's like she's a babysitter that just is there making sure they don't get hurt but doesn't actually play with the kids.

The trouble with this is Shannon is ADHD and that doesn't go away just because she takes her pills in the morning. She's still ADHD, just a bit better able to sit and not have to be constantly on the move. It doesn't mean she is like a regular kid who cant be left to complete tasks without supervision. She cant, she needs guiding through her work...I don't mean she needs he hand holding (not any more) but she does nee help and reassurance.

I have no problem with her other teachers, they are great and do teach the kids and also talk tot he parents gladly when they have issue with the kids behaviour or their is a problem with the work they are producing.

Just this teacher is a problem.....and I am not alone on this. Many of the other parents feel the same. One mother actually said "I'm keeping my head down and doing what I have to do till we can get away from her and her class" That was when we were asked who wanted to be class representative, which no one wanted to be because it means having to talk to the teacher on behalf of the parents on a regular basis.
