My DS slept in his during the day the first few weeks. Then he got to where he didn't like to sleep in it or be in it at all. Now at 2 months he LOVES it! I can put him in it when he is awake and he will sit in it for hours. I think a lot of it has to do with how his eyes are developing so now he can watch the mobile over it and what not. You might find that later on they will enjoy it.

We start swing from day one but...

We ONLY go in the swing when she is fed, rested, and happy. That way, kiddo associates the swing with comfort and happiness, not fussiness and uncomfortableness.

It worked for us, anyway. I have 3 kiddos (one is not bio ours) and all 3 loved it.

DS liked it from the week he came home until I took it away (he tried flipping out of it) over 7 months.

DD used it probably about the same length of time, but she was also moody about where/when she let us put her down. She's very strong willed - came out of the womb with a grumpy face, and it pretty much foreshadowed everything. She hated anytime when she wasn't being held (and wanted to be), but ultimately the swing was one place she "accepted" on occasion.

I would give it some time and try again. Maybe take a couple weeks off and give it another shot before deciding it's worthless. Could there be something else he isn't happy about? I'd definitely try the swing with no movement first. Then, if he lets you use the swinging motion make sure it's really slow - little babies don't need a roller coaster, but their low weight can make the thing go really fast. Slow it down with a blanket dragging the ground or something.

I always put him in it asleep and he wakes up quickly. Today it lasted about 30 min. I got to eat half my dinner before he woke up. He's over 11lbs! Not so light weight. But I don't turn it on full speed.

I honestly don't remember when he started liking it. I think it got a lot of use around the 2-3 month mark, then dropped off. Now he is 18 months and goes to town in that thing! He's probably bigger than was the swing was intended for but who cares? He swings himself in there for 20-40 minutes at a time, it's nice to have him "immobile" when I'm making dinner or cleaning house. So, keep the swing! You never know...

Never, we tried and tried with the first and second. Neither would use it i tried with both up to 6 or 7 months and never. Waste of money in our house

My son never really took to it.
My daughter was closer to 6 weeks. I would swaddle her, and she would nap in it.
We did have a cradle swing both times.
