eek! It is finally happening!

We are listing the house! and....

buying a 5th wheel! oh my, this thing is fabulous!

Very excited but, freaking out a little. I have been getting rid of things for months and months and just realized how much we still have.

All we need is clothes, some toys, food, homeschool things, kitchen things and diapers of course .

We still have MUCH more than that.

Anyone else done this? Any tips on how to get through everything FAST?!

My mom and dad are closing down their second home right now- what worked for them was to have friends come help sort- started with the "for sure we are keeping/need this" items- made a pile/boxed up those things. Or do a backwards box- place in the box the things you are using and what ever is left in the drawer/room you get rid of?

Honestly, at this point, it's fourth down and punt, right? You've sold everything of significant value you are not keeping? Load the 5th wheel like you were leaving today. Put everything you need in there, then lock it. Have a estate sale, and arrange for the donation truck to arrive right after. Then it's done and you are on to your carefree lifestyle and not weighted down by stuff.

Wow that sounds awesome. We had an RV growing up and I just loved it. Although we didn't live in it... those things are surprisingly big and comfortable. I would love to hear how it goes.

TLC did a reality show about it a few years ago where a dad was mad about some things that happened with his teen daughter at school. So they sold the house and the family packed up the 3 or 4 kids (ages 8-14??) and took off for adventures and home schooling, and to bond closer together away from negative influences. I don't remember if they stored their belongings or sold things, but they did sell the house. It was neat to see them living off savings and doing well with very little stuff and just having fun adventures while their kids were little.

This is a slower process than we thought! The house is emptied out besides the basics, we have some totes to go through in the basement. Still shopping for the 5th wheel, we found one we love but, we don't like the dealership. 5th wheels these days are impressive! I think we will all be more than comfortable.

We are at the point now where it all seems so far away but, it is closer than we think. Hoping the house sells right away and we are free!
