Re: JULY 2012 chat thread
I'm right there with ya on the crazy foster care ride.of.your.life! We still have our little 17month old for respite, saw the agency on the caller id...hmmm. It was our licensing worker on conference with our supervisor. Um...gulp. Oh just wanting to know if I will take two more. (you people do know we have four boys of our own? lol) 12 month old boy, five year old girl. I told them I could not do both, but we ended up taking the girl and one of my closest friends whose been waiting years for a baby took the little guy. They were beyond thrilled that we are so close, could keep the kids in contact, and of course supervise sibling visits.

Re: JULY 2012 chat thread
Congrats to you all with new placements! My phone has not rang since dfd left almost 2 weeks ago now. My LW was out this week though and we are their #1 home for our criteria and especially if it's a concurrent situation. They are just so grateful we're continuing to foster. They have been losing all their "good" homes due to these type of CWer decisions that totally disrespect the foster parents and my situation was the straw that broke the camel's back within the agency. So they really want to keep us and because I suppose I've proven myself with our last cases, they really want to put placements with us. They're just really slow right now which is good as long as all the kiddos are truly safe, which is doubtful. I also learned something that made me sick to my stomach about the situation my last dfd just went to. Praying for her all the time.

Re: JULY 2012 chat thread
Well our little respite guy is gone and dfd 4 (almost 5) is settling in well. Fits well with our kiddos and family too. I am mentally and physically exhausted though (mostly mentally) This is going to be a crazy case and it is already wearing on me. Like I said, my friend has dfd's baby brother. I won't go into details but they have been moved several times now, mostly due to bio Dad's preferences and his nasty (private attorney). If they stay (and at this point it may be a fight but they don't want to move them anymore) it will be a long drawn out mess of a case. Not sure how I'm feeling about that, just taking it one day at a time. Anyone see cases go to adoption if bios have a private attorney? My friend is hoping to adopt. I'm not sure how I feel about adopting older kids (blush). How has it worked for you guys???

Re: JULY 2012 chat thread
i've heard very strong arguments for not adopting out of birth order with the exception of an adoption right in the middle! i've hear that situation working out in a lot of situations. i can't imagine a bio hiring a lawyer! i think they would probably have a good chance with a good lawyer depending on the circumstances of removal.

Re: JULY 2012 chat thread
I would never have considered a bio parent getting a private attorney. The idea is so weird to me!!! I guess it does not fit in with my stereotype of what a parent with a kid in FC is like.

Re: JULY 2012 chat thread
Yep. The baby I had who was heroin addicted came from a very middle class family. Actually, the dad's side was fairly wealthy. More money than us, that's for sure!
