Re: Maybe I'm being irrational but...
I don't agree with grandma's food/drink choices, but i'm picturing a loving grandma & unloving mom. I'd prefer the LO drink a few cokes with someone who loves spending time with him vs flouride free H2O with the mom who can't wait to send him off to grandma's again!

I have cut a few people out of my life, because they take time from my life and bring way too much negativity. They brought lots of drama, took little or no responsibility and there was rarely at time when they seemed to care about anyone but themselves (or the problems they had a hand in creating). #OverIt so I moved on

I think K doesn't really care about her wishes not being followed. She's just a complainer.

Re: Maybe I'm being irrational but...
Maybe she is suffering from PPD or some other mental illness? It kind of sounds like she wants to be present for her kid, but can't. I can't understand giving a kid soda, even if I don't know a toddler and I see a parent giving him/her soda I cringe inwardly. But, I can't police the world (sadly
).Or...she might be a better parent for taking breaks, maybe she just can't handle the full time SAHM. Maybe she would be happier working but can't admit that she would be? It does sound like she is unhappy with her life and the complaints/negativity stem from that. Sounds like a tough situation for you to be surrounded by that negativity.

This. And she needs to get over micromanaging.

Re: Maybe I'm being irrational but...
If he managed to grab a soda while you were in the bathroom (I assume you don't leave sodas lying around in the toy box?) is it possible he grabbed one when the grandparents weren't looking? Or is the Coke an all-the-time type of thing? If they are giving him Coke a lot, then I would have an issue with that and politely ask them to stop. But yeah, all the other stuff, if she doesn't want him eating cheese sticks or milk, which I would consider mostly healthy, then she needs to send plenty of meals and snacks with him.

I think even when her son is at home he is playing in his room alone while she is on the computer, or he is in his sandbox while she is on her phone. She likes to tell this "funny" story about how he was trying to get her attention while she was checking facebook on her phone and she was ignoring him until he stuck a spider in her face. And she's always talking about all the stuff he gets into. I know how he is, but she would have to really be ignoring him for him to get into some if the messes he gets into. I hate to end our friendship but I'm in the process of it. (It's a long, drawn out process with me.) I like her but I can't stand her as a parent. |
