That's good to know. I try to avoid canned goods altogether, but sometime's it's nice to go for convenience.

Re: Ham bones?

This is a crock pot recipe but you have to cook your dry beans beforehand or they will be hard if not.

1lb dried navy beans
6 cups water
1 small onion chopped
3/4 cup ketchup
3/4 brown sugar
3/4 water
1 tsp dry mustard
2 T molasses
1 tsp salt

Soak beans in 6 cups water overnight. Cook beans in water until soft about 1 1/2 hours. Drain and discard water.

Mix together all ingredients in slow cooker. Make sure everything is mixed well.

cover and cook on low 10-12 hours

Re: Ham bones?

Thank you!

Do I just throw the ham in with it?

Re: Ham bones?

You are welcome! Yes just throw the ham in with it all. All this talk of baked beans has me craving them so I will be making them this week!

Re: Ham bones?

I made them and they were great! Thanks for the recipe bfuzzy2! The only downfall was that I cooked the beans in the crockpot first and sort of forgot about them, so they were really cooked to start with, so by the end they were a bit mushy, but the flavor was spot on! I'll be more careful with the beans next time.
