baby forgot how to latch?
I've been EBFing since dd was born (1 month) but in the last few days she seems to have "forgotten" how to latch. She had a perfect latch right from day one, but now she can't seem to figure out what she is doing anymore.
She refuses to open her mouth wide, and when she does latch on, she keeps making the smacking sound. When she pops off she starts screaming and frantically searching for nipple, but then refuses to latch on to it. How can I get her back to her awesome latch she had?

Re: baby forgot how to latch?
that sounds like an ear infection to me - will she suck on anything else? Is she pulling at her ears or running a fever?

Try putting her to breast when she first starts showing signs of hunger, those early feeding cues (sucking on hands, mouthing motions with tongue, even light sleep). Usually babies are a little more willing to work on latching during these times. If you use a paci at all I'd avoid that right now along with any other artificial nipple as babies don't need to open wide to suck on them like the breast.
