Re: Why does everyone move away from prefolds?
I moved away from prefolds when DD stopped lying still for changes. Trifolding in a cover works alright but the AIO is like one step faster. That said, I still use prefolds every single day stuffed in pockets. They are bulky but they get the job done.

Re: Why does everyone move away from prefolds?
I like prefolds because to me they seem less bulky too. After this thread I may have to try flats now... My mil watches ds during the day but isn't too big a fan of cd. I would like to have mainly prefolds for her becaus they are easiest to wash/dry but if I'm going to end up switching it's not a fight I want to deal with to convince her to use them.

Re: Why does everyone move away from prefolds?
My main reason for growing apart from them is that other one piece systems are just so much easier to put on a squirmy baby. I like prefolds/flats for 0-6 months, then baby gets squirmy from 6-12/18 months and I prefer pockets (stuffed with prefolds)/aios etc., after around 18 mos, my DS understood to stay still during diaper changes and prefolds/flats were again a fav :-)

We had a phase when DS2 was around 9 months old where he did not want to stay and hang out for diaper changes. We used pockets a lot during that time since they were so quick. Now, I'm back to using PFs a lot. Probably 50% of the time. I use pockets and fitteds too.

Pinned prefolds is my favorite system at home. I also use fitteds and flats, just not as often. I have pockets for dh and for outings.

![]() In reference to the squirmy, rolling, wanting to run stage: yes, it will eventually pass for most kids (some do it through PL). Mine started it as soon as she could roll. Now, at 13 months, she's about half and half. Sometimes she'll lay there for me and sometimes she'll scream and try her hardest to get away.
