Hospital. I really really hope for a natural, unmedicated VBAC. I really want to experience labor and birth.

Yes definitely a feeling you never forget and never want to have to experience again! DH said she had to reach in almost to her elbow to get it out which I believe with the way it felt, felt like my insides where being ripped out which I guess is almost true Also the recovery was harder after the manual extraction (also ended up being anemic after all the blood loss) which I didn't have anything to relate it to at the time but after DS the recovery was so much nicer. I didn't tear either time though so that was awesome! Our midwife was actually pretty surprised I had absolutely no tearing with DD.

I've had 2 hospital births that I enjoyed and plan to return to the same hospital this time too. Love my OB and my epidurals, lol.

Re: Where do you plan to birth?

Hospital most likely due to high risk pregnancies. Lovely for a homebirth lay midwife ehh! I have gotten used to them though and a hospital birth can be a very good, very empowering experience.

I had a manual removal after #5.....OOOUUUCCCHHH! Had a pretty good bleed too after my longest labor 30 hours! And it was one of my smallest babies. Give me a good solid 9-10lber any day!

I was so scared after that birth, but my next one was 1 hour 20 min....That's it, gave birth on the bathroom floor at the hospital. They had just checked and I was 7 cms...2 contractions later I am having a baby. The nurse ran out of the room (of course! that happened with #2 too), but my good midwife friend was there for support. When I said "Sarah, catch the baby" she knew I meant it!!

Thank you, you just solved my dilemma! We are having a homebirth again and we heat with wood, which I love, but that means our bedroom will be cold. So, I will just birth in the living room!

Hospital trying for a vbac. I'm hoping to get the room with the jacuzzi tub this time. For some reason last time I felt more comfortable sitting on the ball in the shower, this time I feel like the tub would be really good. Not sure yet about the drugs. With my dd I laboured for so long without any that when I finally got my epi it was an absolute dream. I was in so much pain the gas or shot of morphine did nothing.

Re: Where do you plan to birth?

If ALL goes to plan and this pregnancy continues to be low risk I fully intend to give birth at home for the 3rd time. *inshaAllah* I personally do not believe I could ever progress in a hospital too many years of torture in them from my childhood leukemia days to my near death kidney failures from when I was 18-20 yrs old. Just SEEING a hospital can be stressful for me and depending on the amount of pain or discomfort I'm in, it may even set off a full blown panic attack. Not conducive to an unmedicated relaxed birthing experience.

So if I EVER end up in a hospital its because its an emergency and I'm going down for surgery. I've come to terms with that, if I'm in a hospital its because its needed to save my life, the baby's life or both our lives and hence my discomfort and trauma is overpowered by the instinct of self-preservation. kwim?

Re: Where do you plan to birth?

Birth center waterbirth is what im hoping for. I have had 3 at the birth center and 1 homebirth. If we are in a bigger house before this baby comes i would consider another homebirth. But there is just nowhere for me to birth in this house and be away from the children.

Re: Where do you plan to birth?

I love how different we all are...so excited for the vbacs and so happy to hear about positive cesection stories. I always feel like birth is some crazy competition and i just don't get it. What a diverse group of experiences and preferences we have!
