I taught myself to knit and started with hats. I knew I didn't want to make anything flat so I didn't want to bother at first. I've done one dish cloth for my mom, but that was after several hats.
I used YouTube for the tutorials, knittinghelp.com for the glossary, and the book Stitch 'n B!tch when I wanted a break-down explanation or to go slower. I've only done longies with the EviePants pattern so far, although I have others now.
