7 month old trying to escape Moby...help!
I put my very VERY (very) active almost 7 month old son in the Moby yesterday to try and vacuum the house. All he wants to do is:
-try and get his arms out to push down the parts that cross -lean to the side (in the hopes he falls out??! )-attempt to climb up my stomach like I'm a tree and he's a spider monkey I have a Bebo on the way, so I'll be using that a lot more...should I just retire the Moby until baby #2? The thing is TIGHT when I put him in it, but he just squirms and stretches until I have to hold him with one arm to keep him in place. EDIT: I should add that he's not unhappy in it...he isn't crying or whining. |

Re: 7 month old trying to escape Moby...help!
Most mamas find that their baby out grows the moby by 3-4 months, because the fabric is just not supportive enough for bigger babies. A woven wrap is much more supportive. I would retire the moby until you have a #2.

Yeah, I am ready to retire it anyway, it's a butt-pain to put on. Next baby I won't be so scared to use it when he/she is little and I'll get more use out of it. Thanks! :-)

I think you will be happy with an SSC or even a MeiTai. Moby for me is only for little newbies kwim?

Yep the moby is great for newbs but once the get heavier and squirmier it does not work well and it time to move on to another carrier like a mei tai or a ssc.

He sounds like he is just too big for it to me. I would save it for the next baby!

Re: 7 month old trying to escape Moby...help!
Yup, I agree with everyone else. We stopped using the Moby after about 2-3mos. One, it was getting too hot (we live in FL). Two, it was getting too stretchy. I would try another type of carrier. We got an Ergo after that, but if you like wearing your baby wrapped, I would try a woven.
