Please join us to learn how to make a pillowcase dress to be donated to "Dress A Girl Around the World". We will be sewing on Saturday, August 25, 2-4pm, at the Oshtemo Library in West Kalamazoo. The "Dress a Girl" organization collects simple pillowcase dresses and distributes them throughout the world. http://www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.com/ For me, it's a great way to use up fabric in my stash and have something easy to work on as a diversion from my usual sewing tasks. This event would require each person to bring: *a sewing machine *one yard of cotton woven fabric (not see-through/white) *thread, scissors *1 yard of wide double fold bias tape (or quilt binding) You can study the pattern guidelines on the Dress A Girl Site, or be treated to my no-pattern-needed tutorial (which varies from theirs). The dress is very quick to make. You are welcome to donate your effort to the cause, or keep it for you own little girl. B.C. Fleecy will cover postage for all donated dresses. I anticipate an opportunity for swapping coordinating fabrics with friends to mix and match binding, straps, and pocket details! I have a spare sewing machine for anyone without and there may be other opportunities for sharing. Please post on the FB page to arrange a match. Space may be limited to the amount of electric outlets in the room. I suspect 20 would be the max. Hope to see you there! Please RSVP on the FB page, or PM me.
