Help me buy socks, please please please?!

I need to minimalize and organize the crazy sock situation here.
I'm starting with my five year old.
I am terribly confused and don't know what to get.

He takes shoe size 13 or 1 right now.
I would prefer a NOT thick sock and would prefer it to be a medium height (so not no-show and not really far up his leg style.)
I would prefer all socks in the pack to be identical.
I need CHEAP.
I expect we need about 14 pairs total.

Socks?? lol, really. We do the Hanes ankle socks. Each size has its own color of writing at the toe, so laundry is easier to separate. Although 14 pairs is a crazy amount for one child (unless you can't keep up with socks??). I wash "hot water whites" at least once a week and still wouldn't use that amount!

$7.50 for six online, probably less if you looked more elsewhere

This may be strange but if he needs thin then why not girl socks? My son hates thick socks (hanes type) and we get ankle socks from Gabriel Brothers (they are not all identical though) but if he needed new I would get him womens like mine as he is 11. He has borrowed them before & loved them.

I like the white Circo ones at Target. They are thinner and a good height too.

Hanes ankle socks, should be on sale for back to school at Target/WM... I get a TON because 2 boys are the same size, used to be 3 but my 10yr old grew a bit and needs his own blue ones and not green ones now! :-)

Ladies socks would certainly work if we can find some in his size.
I used to buy those white Circo brand ones, they're great, except they don't have sizes large enough and they change sizes with wash and wear. We now have a zilion that won't pair correctly and none of the kids fit in. I definitely need some size identification.
