Diaper Swappers

I have a TON of wool and cashmere sweaters that I bought for making soakers and longies, and I'm realizing there's no way I'm going to use them all for that purpose. I was thinking of making a wool coat for DD for this winter. Anyone done that from old sweaters? Any particular pattern that's your favorite? DD is 6 months old now but a bit big, so probably a 12 month size would be what she'd need for this winter.
