My mom says it all the time! Not that she didnt breast feed but she stopped at a year. She makes sure she shares her opinion with me every time we get together.

Re: Breastfeeding is blamed for everything!
I've heard the concerns from the opposite end too -similar to pp, my ds3 was about 19lbs at 12 months.....well now he's my chunky monkey of course and now I think he's starting to slim down as he's 3 and they all tend to lose that baby fat from 3 to 4 I think, esp as my boys are tall.
Anyhoo, we are definately creating a generation of paranoid kids here if they get wind of these doctors or figure out where they are on "the chart", lol!

Oh, and I will say that Dr that is on good morning america was saying last year that the #1 thing you can do to avoid obesity in later life for your kids is to BF them, maybe you need to tape that and bring it into the ped.....if you ever go back....

Re: Breastfeeding is blamed for everything!
Babies are supposed to be chunky! My first was around 32lbs when he turned one (5 months EBF, then formula). He is now almost 9, very athletic, and one of the slimmer kids his age. My second was skinny, maybe hit 18 lbs by one! How is her health? If she is happy and healthy why change anything? From what I have heard breast is best! Do what is best for you and your daughter.

Mamas, send some of that chunk this way! DD is 2.5, 28lbs, and 35" tall and DS is 3.5 months, 11-12lbs, and 24-25" long. DD was a chunky baby (BF for 3 mos and then formula) but thinned out as she started moving but poor DS has always been skinny. It worries me a little but I know as long as I nurse on demand, then he's okay

Re: Breastfeeding is blamed for everything!
LOL yes I've heard this often. Apparently, according to the dr we saw, this advice goes out the window after 12 months.

Re: Breastfeeding is blamed for everything!
I was told by my ped that ds was overweight from being breastfed too...she then went on to tell me that I could continue because we don't "starve" children until they are 2!!
