i have a couple wash questions...

Hi mamas-

i have a couple washing questions. first of all, how much detergent do you use? i've been using Gain and i really like how it cleans, but i seem to get a ton of bubbles with it and have to do a lot of rinses. Seems like more with gain than with ultra tide (both powder). am i using too much? i get so confused because some people say to just use a small amount and some say to use more than recomended.

second...when you buy new diapers (specifically BG 4.0s), how do you prep them? i beleive it says wash3-5 times, but do i use soap every time? what is your procedure?

Initially I just started using a few tablespoons and going from there. It took a few washes to figure out what worked best for us but I think I ended up with somewhere between 3-4 tablespoons (or just below the 1 line) being the right amount. If I use more than that then I have to do an extra rinse, less and they are not clean.

As far as BG 4.0 they are all sythetic materials so they don't need prepping. Prepping refers to removing the oils from natural fibers (cotton, hemp) and bamboo so that they absorb liquid. Just wash your BG like regular clothes and put them on.

i think just below the 1 line is where i need to be. i was adding way too much and doing so many rinses! thanks for the tips!
