Super Crunchy Moms
I thought I would start a thread for like-minded mamas who are doing any of the following with their pregnancy,
- using a midwife - having a homebirth / unassisted birth - not doing an ultrasound or only 1 for gender - placenta encapsulation or anything else that my pregnant brain cannot think of that would fit in that category I thought it would be nice to share our natural pregnancies!

Midwife- check
Homebirth- yes it's going to work out! Placenta pills - check - hopefully my friend that did it last time can drive down or we'll tackle or ourselves. Just two ultrasounds. I'm doing hypnobabies again, how are you all managing labor med free? Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum

Re: Super Crunchy Moms
I guess I should have talked about me...HAHA!
Birth: Midwife and doula at home, hopefully in the water. U/S: If I had it my way I would do no u/s but the hubby really wants to know gender so I am giving into ONE. Placenta: Yep, encapsulating half and donating the other half to search and rescue so they can train their dogs to find humans. Pain: I am going to try hypnobabies and I am looking into accupuncture to help with pain as well. When I am in pain I always go take a bath so I am planning a water birth. When I know something is going to hurt ahead of time I picture it over and over in my head and each time I tell myself how I am going to get through it then picture a perfect ending. It helps

Re: Super Crunchy Moms
I contacted our local search and rescue and asked them if they had a need, my friend donated hers last year in a different state. They were super happy and excited, people do not think to donate often. Each state might have different ways they want you to get it to them, we talked about me freezing half and dropping it off at their station in a cooler.

Re: Super Crunchy Moms
I consider myself a crunchy mama
*trying to eat mostly raw this pregnancy (but not restricting myself) *Using a Midwife (Wish I could afford the $4000 for a HB midwife, but it's just not going to happen) ![]() *Would consider placenta encapsulation, but I don't have a dehydrator. How much are they anyone know? Last time I buried mine. *Use natural remedies for aches and pains, migraines, illness or whatever. *Another drug free birth here. *BF mama *Delayed chord cutting (Not lotus though) *Cloth diapering *Make my own baby food *No chemicals in anything I can avoid, baby wash, bubble bath, shampoo, lotion, detergent, ect. *Perineum massage to help not tear That's all I can think of. For you crunchy mamas, if you haven't read Ina May Gaskin's Spiritual Midwifery, I highly recommend you get a copy. Amazing birth stories that are so encouraging and a lot of women who experience pain free labors and deliveries. It is possible I really believe that! |
