FF 10 month old eating schedule
My 10 month old (tomorrow) is formula fed. He began solids at 6 months and has done beautifully. He is now mostly on table foods with the occasional meal of baby food (trying to use it up). What I am wondering is what his schedule should look like. Right now he drinks his bottles in between meals and I am not sure that is right. We will be transitioning to milk soon and I am not sure how!
Here is his current schedule: 6:30: wake up and drink 5 oz bottle 7:00: a small amount of cherrios and 4 oz yogurt 10:30 4-5 oz bottle 11:30-12: lunch. Mac and cheese, avocado and fruit, grilled cheese, chicken...we're experimenting here. 3:00: 4-5 oz bottle 5:00-5:30: dinner. Same foods as lunch 7:00: 8 oz bedtime bottle Should I start transitioning him to a 4 oz formula sippy during meals? And lastly, maybe sort of OT, how the HECK to I get rid of the night night bottle?? You all are so awesome and a wealth of info...so thanks in advance.

Re: FF 10 month old eating schedule
My daughter, at that age, ate like:
wakeup: 6oz 2 hours later: solids breakfast - yogurt, oatmeal, grits, waffles, fruit - different things on different days, but always fresh fruit. 2 hours later: 5oz 2 hours later: 5oz after nap: 5-6oz 2 hours later: 5oz dinnertime: gnawed on some things, didn't really consume much sometime before bed: 5oz they will drop the bottles when they need to, so just wait for their lead ![]() and no, I wouldn't start offering 4oz of formula during solid mealtimes. You're transitioning him to eat, not drink, his meals. So, he would ideally be filling up with solids. My daughter quickly transitioned to 3 solid meals a day with 2 snacks at 12-13 months. Now she has 3 meals, 2 milk sippies (morning and after nap, although sometimes she doesn't ask for milk after her nap) and 1 afternoon snack if she remembers to ask for it. Your child might transition quicker or slower. Just follow their lead. As for switching to milk, I just switched and had no problems. You may have to do 25%milk/50% formula, then 50/50, etc - depends on what your child requires of you. I would not give the same foods at lunch and dinner - I'm not sure if that's what you meant. I am pretty careful not to give the same basic foods very often because I don't want my child to develop clear favorites. So, if she gets something like chicken nuggets, it'll be about 2 weeks before she gets it again. She's a great eater, so I think it's contributed to that fact. Breakfast is only a handful of items rotated, but lunch and dinner are easier to rotate in large amounts. If you're having difficulties coming up with ideas, here's a website I've never used, but have seen mentioned here: http://weelicious.com/ also, on a side note: all that baby food you're trying to use up? Skip feeding the purees and throw it in stuff. Carrots are great in spaghetti, meatloaf, etc. You can throw most veggies into mac&cheese, mix into yogurt, etc. Of course, if the food you have is more like the meal things, then yeah, probably harder, but still not impossible, I bet ![]() good luck! hope that helps!

Re: FF 10 month old eating schedule
Thank you!!!! It took me forever to get back on here.
I loved the advice of sneaking baby food into regular food! I did it with squash and mac n cheese. It was good!!! He loved it. I also wanted to clarify, I just meant I do the same kinds of foods for lunch and dinner...not the exact thing. I am trying hard to have some variety for him...it's hard though! But, there is still stuff he can't have, so we are working on it.

When did you start "real" food, not just cereal and baby food?
