You stay the night at the birth center? See, mine, I leave. After birth, I leave within 5 hours if I want. Baby has to be monitored for 4 hours after being born then we are off! So I have no fears leaving my
Kids. How long do they require you to stay?

Re: Med-Free Birthers I want opinions!
Where I had DD was a hospital based birth center so they do have some hospital rules to follow. One being 24 hour stay after delivery. With DD we were out the door at 24 on the dot!

Re: Med-Free Birthers I want opinions!
My DS came to the hospital to see his sissy, but he was almost 4 and still freaked out. he kept asking if I was sick, and didnt fully understand, even at 4 what all was happening. He and sissy didn't really bond until after we got home, and things were settled and quiet. Also we were out of there in 24 hours too, my l&d nurses were fab, and had all of the paperwork and carseat check done early so we left as soon as we could. (I had a hospital birth with epidural, the pitocin got the better of me)

Re: Med-Free Birthers I want opinions!
would go with your gut feelings on where to labor/birth. I wouldn't feel too bad about your daughter. She will have plenty of time to bond once you are home.
HEck, I homebirth, and I send my kids away, lol. I bring them back to see baby once things are clam, but then off they go to grandmas for a few days. It is a really nice time for dh, baby, and I.

Re: Med-Free Birthers I want opinions!
Is there a closer free-standing birth center near you? Or a different hospital with a midwie group?
God bless!

In the weeks since the original post I have become more comfortable with the group I am currently seeing and I am planning to stick with them for the duration of the pregnancy.

Re: Med-Free Birthers I want opinions!
When I had DD2 the hospital did not allow children in due to swine flu. So I just stayed the 24 hours, then went home and DD1 got to see her. Third was a homebirth, to be honest the 2yo did not care all that much. The 4yo was superexcited though and it was cute to have her around.
I've had quick labours with all of mine so I'd probably have to go to the closest place, 45 mins woild be too far for me. But as others have said, you never know, things could go very differently this time.
