Homemade granola/protein bars
I'd like to try making my own granola bars or protein bars because I eat them like they are going out of style. I need something very filling and fruity rather than chocolatey. Does anyone know a good recipe?

Re: Homemade granola/protein bars
i use this recipe, http://allrecipes.com/recipe/bird-se...rs/detail.aspx
i use half the amount of brown sugar and honey recommended, and sub all the fillings (the four things at the bottom) for whatever i like. usually nuts, craisins, and chocolate chips. also an extra egg helps them be less crumbly. i keep them in the freezer and they taste great straight out of there!

I wonder if you could sub 1/2 applesauce and 1/2 coconut oil for the canola. Any thoughts on that?
Autocorrect has helped me type this.

i'm sure you could! i've never used coconut oil before, but if i have applesauce, i do use that in place of oil in this recipe.

Re: Homemade granola/protein bars
Heres a link to my recipe. i make the chocolately one's for the kids but for DH and I, we put in raisins, dried cranberries, cherries, and nuts! YUM! Also since posting I have now switched to using honey instead of corn syrup. They are delicious!
