I have dreams about DHs ex girlfriend. A particular one. I always tell him and sometimes the dreams seem so real I will just make him tell me he loves me. I know he thinks nothing of her but I guess your subconscious after sleep makes you want to ask.
Just last week I had a dream she stole his cobra (car). It wouldn't shock me if she did, I kept checking every morning for a couple days that it was in our driveway. Everyone has a crazy ex and I just so happen to dream about my DHs, it could be cause I know she still wishes they were together after 5 years but Idk. It's just a dream. Possibly your dh just wants that reassurance

I have some weird dreams too. And they really really bug me. I've even seen a counselor about them! Nothing dangerous or anything but emotionally, I do not like the feeling they give me when I wake up. :/ so sometimes it's outta our control :/
