I have no idea what pattern the Etsy dress is. I was just going to do something similar.
I was going to use this free patten (12 months to girls size 14)

and add an Obi like belt (not attached to the dress).

Passed my exam today with an 85%! Not bad for there being FOUR out of 35 questions that my study material never even covered! No sewing done today, but that's alright. Went to JoAnns after the test and didn't buy a SINGLE bit of fabric! I didn't even go to the fabric area!

Back to school week Bonus Ideas:
Crayon Roll

6" & 5" strips... a great way to use up smaller pieces or FQ's in our fabric stashes. I'm going to make one that is 10" so it will fit pencils and 8" with wider "pockets" so it will fit DD's Large markers. DS is going to pick out the fabric. (Hopefully I can convince him the fabric is suppose to match!)

Sandwich bags (EASY.. no closure method)

And the Sandwich bags will need a matching lunch bag!

For the little ones... Fabric books (I know I have at least one cheater Cut & sew book),play food, Counting/sorting ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/B004DJ1EH2 ... I bought this for DD. I'm thinking of making something ?? with shapes and textures because this is her favorite toy!)

What are everyone else's plans?

Hopefully I can get to a few projects this week. I've been scrambling for time lately. Obviously since the fleece pants with the Olympic rings on them for DD1 are cut out but not sewn yet. She's a swimmer with Olympic dreams

I'm planning to make some stuffed letters and numbers for DD.
I'm making a chalkboard something since I have had the fabric for over a year now.
I have to make DS a "wipe" for school for his dry erase board.
I'd like to make a book carrier for the van with a holder for a few crayons and dry erase markers.
Definitely making crayon rolls. Hopefully I can get a bunch made since that's what DS is giving out for Valentines Day at school cause I hate candy.
