Vax question- Tetanus

Can you talk to someone in the ER? Our ER has just a tetnus shot by itself.

I've heard that you can only get tetanus from an object that has remains from animal feces, like an old rusty nail found on a farm, etc. Any truth to that?

As long as it bleeds, no.

I'm pregnant right now with #2. When we moved in our new house I stepped on a nasty, nasty rusty nail. I poured peroxide on it and let it bleed as much as it needed to. I am NOT up to date on my tetanus vax and did not go into the ER to get one. As long as it bleeds there is no need to get one. Even still, if you do get a cut and would feel more comfortable getting a vax then the tetanus shot will not do you any good you would need to ask for the IgE version. The tetanus anti toxoid takes 6 weeks to build in your system if it is going to work (that's why they require so many vax for it), by that time it is too late for the vax to do you any good for your injury.

I understand, I wasn't wanting the info for his current injury, but that is what brought it up in my mind.
