We covered ourselves with our blanket(s) then put baby on top with his own blanket, or swaddled. I would not be able to sleep with my comforter only up to my waist.

I got old sweatshirts from the thrift store and cut vertical slits in them as nursing openings. Works like a charm. And DH jokingly calls them my "slitty breast hole shirts".

Also, baby wears layers including one layer of fleece or wool. I wear warm Jammie's as well.

We have separate blankets. DH has his own, baby wears a sleep blanket and I have my own. I wear a nursing tank and if I'm cold a sweater.

What about buying thermal underwear, silk, wool, etc., and cutting a slit in it to turn it into a nursing undershirt, and wearing that under pajamas? Those could also be used outside or in a chilly parked car.

Look into a Vellux blanket - a real one, not a cheap knockoff. They are amazingly warm but light and breathable. Most hotels use them to add warmth without bulk, and they are much safer around a baby than a poofy comforter.

I used a zip-up washable silk caftan as PJs, worked really well and very comfortable. DD would be in a fleece SwaddleMe or Woombie and a diaper.

Another good option is adult full-body pjs/sleepers - Lands End sells a really nice zip-up one of thick fleece. It was actually TOO hot for me, and I am always cold!
