OMGness, what is this????
Ds just got home from a weekend away, spend half at my brother's house and half at a friend's house, due to my 12 hour shifts and needing a sitter. Anyhoo, he gets home at 9pm tonight, I take off his shirt for his bath, and find THIS!!!! The center part that's more red is very firm, and a bit...wrinkly, I guess you could say. The whole bigger area that's pinkish is puffy...and the center has something mucus like thing sticking out of it.
Has anyone seen this?? Brother claims to have never seen it, and friend said it was noticed at bathtime last night but just looked like a mosquito bite. Ds says it itches, but that's it. ![]() ![]() ![]() We're going to the walk in clinic tomorrow, since these pics don't show how bad it really looks. Edited to add another pic.

Re: OMGness, what is this????
Did you google bullseye with rash.
I'm sure that's a sign for something but can't remember?

Re: OMGness, what is this????
I've been searching through pics of insect bites, I'll do that search now.

Bullseye rash is usually associated with Lyme disease, but Lyme disease usually painless, not itchy. Does it look like clear fluid in the center part or pus? My first thought was an allergic reaction to a bite or something....hope he feels better soon and you get some answers!

My first thought was a staph infection.

Re: OMGness, what is this????
OK, after googling that does not look like a bullseye, as a bullseye rash looks red in center, then white, then red again - so hope you are not freaking out about lymes disease or ringworm, which is what bullseye rash is from I saw.
On the other hand, I would bring him in tomorrow as it could be some kind of bite, but probably good to get it seen, probably nothing....

Re: OMGness, what is this????
Yeah i would take him in. Could have started out as an insect bite that got infected and is now an abcess. They can drain it at the clinic i am sure. GL!

Re: OMGness, what is this????
Well, put some neosporin or whatever you have, TTO, betadine, etc and see how it is tomorrow.
If it's itching it might be a bite, I've had a ton of mosquito bites but never had a white milky thing etc. Even if I itch it like crazy.

My husband is mildly allergic to fire ants and when he is bit this is ExACTLY what it looks like. (i say mildly because he is deathly allergic to bees so in comparison...) Pus filled lump at the center with red swelling around, sometimes up to 12" from the boil. We put hydrocortisone cream and leave it alone. Don't pop it, and I "make" him not scratch it. Sometimes if the itching is really bad I make a paste out of baking soda and water and I rub it on and leave it. It can take 4-5 days for his swelling to go all the way down.
I'm by no means an expert, but I HTH!
