Chicken pox?
We don't vaccinate our girls, but I'm worried that they haven't gotten the chicken pox yet. They are three and four. Should I try to get them to catch it before they are five? Just curious, I'll ask my doctor if need be. We rarely goto the docs office.
Thanks!

Re: Chicken pox?
I would assume your supposes to find a child who has it, and then let them play? Lol
I remember that's how my parents did it when we were little. Lol

Re: Chicken pox?
I am trying to avoid it (can't be immunized as an adult, had it as a child but lost immunity) and I can tell you that the CDC is of no help on how to avoid or catch it. I have yet to contact my local department of health but I don't imagine they will be much more help.
Good luck! If I find out anything I will let you know.

Re: Chicken pox?
I know kids who have gotten it in early elem school & done fine. My kids just had them earlier this summer at 4yrs & 18ish months old. My son got it worse than my daughter & he's younger. I think it just depends on the kid as to how bad they get them.

I finally got it when I was 19. My sister had it at 3 or 4 (I was around 10) and I rubbed my hands and arms on her and still didn't catch it.

Re: Chicken pox?
I would let them try to get it unless you have friends whos children get it. Are they in public school? I would think they would pick it up from there eventually but i don't really know. I was homeschooled as a kid and never did get them :-(

Re: Chicken pox?
I would let them get it, but that's just me. I WISH I had them as a kid. I got a TERRIBLE case of them late in my teens & I missed a ton of school (more than just a couple weeks) & had to seek hospital treatment b/c they were so bad - they can be much worse when older or an adult.
