spinoff of nursing during pregnancy thread..anyone have same feelings tandem nursing?
DD was a little over 2 when DS was born. I nursed throughout my pregnancy and had the same exact feelings (agitated, wanting to jump out of my skin, heebie jeebie feeling)--mainly at night.
DS is almost 3 months old now and I still get similar feelings when nursing DD. I don't get the agitated feelings but still get the heebie jeebie, wanting to jump out of my skin feeling when nursing DD (now 29 months old). I don't know if her latch is maybe part of the problem (I sometimes have teeth marks on me). I don't have any problems at all when only nursing DS. It is MUCH worse when nursing both kids at the same time so I try to nurse them at different times...but I still get the awful feelings when nursing DD. I do not want to wean her and I absolutely HATE that I feel this way. Does anyone else feel this way?

Re: spinoff of nursing during pregnancy thread..anyone have same feelings tandem nurs
I'm not tandem nursing yet, but my biggest fear is that these feelings will continue even after delivery. I have a friend in LLL who tandem nursed for almost two years, and I've talked to her about it... she said the biggest help was cutting the older child's nursing sessions. Instead of nursing her on demand, she gradually reduced it so that the older child was only nursing 3 times/day (morning, before nap, and before bed).

Re: spinoff of nursing during pregnancy thread..anyone have same feelings tandem nurs
I had these exact same feelings when pregnant with DD2 and then after birth. They never faded for me. Thankfully, DD1 weaned at 38 months (about 9 months of tandem nursing).
This time around, I am nursing DD2 and DD3 (1 week old). The feelings never started and everything feels fine to be nursing them both, even tandem. There is definitely a chance for them to completely fade or get worse. Do what is right for you and your little ones. But know, it isn't your fault!

I don't have those feelings, but I never nurse both at the same time (I know I just couldn't manage that) and my DD only nurses 2 or 3 times a day. I also keep her nursing sessions pretty short unless she is sick, or I have a clogged duct and need her help or something. Then we count to 10 and she unlatches.

Re: spinoff of nursing during pregnancy thread..anyone have same feelings tandem nurs
I had those feelings during pregnancy and after birth as well. For me they did decrease but I would still get irritated when nursing my DD. I finally weaned her at 32 months (6 months tandem). It was def not her idea to wean. She has been weaned for a month and this morning put herself in position and asked to nurse. I feel a little guilty about not letting her wean on her own but I feel nursing should be beneficial to both mother and child and it WAS not a good thing for me at that point. I also figure she nursed for 2 1/2 yrs, far longer than average and I got us past all her teething. Good luck!
