Hadn't talked to her in weeks.. and THESE were her first words to me...
So I haven't talked to my step mom in several weeks. So I called my dad to talk to him. Asked him if step-mom was home to say hi. So he gets her.
I said "Hey, haven't talked to you in while. Figured I'd say hi and see how things are going." First words to me... "Yeah, I was just thinking about you the other day.... I was thinking it was time to stop home-schooling and put DS1 into school." Wow.... thanks. Sheesh. I was like "Um, why?" "Oh, you've got a baby coming, you're going to have your hands full." Me: "Yeah, well, people do it all the time." Then she proceeded to tell me how it was going to be tough home-schooling two kids with a toddler and a newborn. I said "Well, DS3 isn't really much trouble when I'm HSing his brothers, and the baby will sleep most of the time. I know she doesn't agree with my choice to home-school..but really, I'm 35 weeks pregnant and haven't talked to her in WEEKS, and her first words were that "it's time" to put my 7yo into school? I'm sorry, but last time I checked that was MY choice. I love my step mom, I REALLY do.. I just don't understand why she's so against my home-schooling my kids.. who are ahead of their peers. My 4yo is doing 1st grade level math, and does it in his head faster than my 7yo. And he's reading really well. My 7yo is VERY bright.. and both of them LOVE school time. So WHY does she keep insisting that they need to go to PS when I live in one of the worst districts in my state? Sheesh~! Ok..vent over. Thanks for reading. God bless!

Re: Hadn't talked to her in weeks.. and THEESE were her first words to me...
I had something similar and as I was complaining to a friend she told me that "not all questions need answers." Not all people can be giving the privilege about knowing the inner workings of your family. Its a PRIVILEGE not a right. Then again I had problems setting boundaries with my mom and she recommended I read a book about boundaries but I forgot to write it down.

It is totally doable! I wore my newbie, and just kept on going.

Re: Hadn't talked to her in weeks.. and THESE were her first words to me...
Thanks ladies. I know she thinks I'm doing my kids a disservice and she really means it out of love for them. She's a good woman, and was good to my sister and I growing up, and I love her to pieces. It just frustrates me that she's so against HSing.
They (she and my dad) comment on how bright my kids are and how smart... well, how do they THINK my kids got so smart? BY ME HOME SCHOOLING THEM. LOL And @rumblepurr (love the name BTW).. that's exactly the plan. I own 2 slings, 2 wrap carriers and 2 mei ties.... Wearing the baby is NOT going to be a problem. LOL Not to mention I'll have a swing for her. My toddler loves to sit and watch my 4 yr old do school work, because his math and reading lessons are an interactive computer program, so he loves to sit in .. and in fact that's WHY my 4yr old is so bright.. because it's the same program I used for DS1, and HE (DS2) used to insist that he was "doing school" with his brother, so he got into it at a really early age.. so in essence, he's sat through at least half of the lessons for half of each lesson or more. I started him early because he BEGGED me to start school.. so I figured "why not?" Anyway.. thanks ladies. God bless!
