Chest clip undoing it self?!
This is the seat we have - www.babytrend.com/retired_car_seats/6381.html MIL suprised us with it and said it had good reviews but
It says its retired now but she bought it from Walmart less than 5 months ago. The clip that goes across the chest has come undone on its own 3x. My baby is only 3 weeks so no he isnt undoing it. The first two times dh had buckled him in and I seriously scolded dh when we got to our destination and I saw it unbuckled. This last time I buckled ds in and Im 1000% sure I did it correctly. Got to our destination and when I went to get ds out the clip was undone So, I messed with it a bit and if I put just a bit of pressure on the back side of the clip it will come undone. The clip doesnt look defective or damaged though.I cant find any recall info on this and the company is closed on weekends. Anyone ever have this issue? Any ideas? I hate to buy another seat but I feel like I cant trust this seat. I suppose I could have the company send me another clip but I wonder if it will do the same thing. Re: Chest clip undoing it self?!
I would use it for today (if you need to go anywhere) and call the company first thing tomorrow morning. It might help you to feel better to know that the primary job of the chest clip is to keep the harness correctly positioned (before a crash). So as long as the harness isn't coming off the baby's shoulders, you should be okay. Make sure the harness is correctly tightened to help with this - you shouldn't be able to pinch any harness webbing when you pull your fingers along it, parallel to the direction of the strap.

We had issues with the crotch buckle not unlatching on a different seat, and as soon as I called, the company had sent me a check in the mail and a prepaid label to mail the defective seat back to them. And we bought the same seat, and the buckle was different and hasn't had any issues. Good luck! I know this is stressful!
