She has the highest position in the entire hotel, she runs the place. The sad part is that nothing will probably happen to her, she might lose her bonus or something but that will most likely be it. She's not even due back til mid-October so this will probably stretch out at least that long.....one more reason why he just wants to get out of there!

This is truly horrible. But it might just be that all the players were set in the right place so that your husband has a real desire to move. He may not have been so eager to go if he did get the promotion.

Wow OP - I am sorry you are going through this!

So I've been thinking about this for a while and if your DH was mine I would tell him NOT to take another position. Well hopefully he gets the other job in Vermount anyway so this is a moot point but... I feel that if he ends up for whatever reason having to stay with this company that by taking the pay cut he will end up getting shuffled off and under the rug. I DON'T think that the boss is going to get off lightly, like you do IF he keeps himself right there in the public eye. Surely what she did was illegal and if he refuses to quietly go away I bet your family will eventually end up with a better resolution. Besides you mentioned that you are tight right now because your housing is based on the raise you thought he was getting so I can't imagine how much worse it is going to be taking an even bigger cut. ALSO I think the reason they offered to move your DH, other then the obvious to put things out of the spotlight is so that he doesn't have to work under her anymore since there is certainly going to be tension with the two of them BUT since she isn't even going to be there for 6 weeks there is really no point since they won't even see each other. I think he should apply elsewhere but stay in his job at least until she gets back and then see if things get worse. But I REALLY seriously think that she is in very serious trouble and if the company doesn't do anything or tries to let it all blow over I think your DH should contact an attorney. I believe the company will have to act if your DH stays in his position because it is going to be terrible for moral if he isn't dealt with properly and is ther ebeing a constant reminder of how the "boss" treats people. He is really in a power position IMO. It will be interesting to see how the company tries to play this one out. I bet they would LOVE if he got offered a job somewhere else and just left so they didn't have to clean up this mess. AND if he does take a job somewhere else I think you guys should still ask them for compensation for lost wages and moving expenses - all they can say is no and maybe they won't!

As far as his boss, don't be to sure that nothing will happen to her. If I were her employer falsifying a review would send a huge red flag up. A person capable of that would lose my trust and confidence. I would think at least a demotion is in order.

I would be tempted to see it through but I completely understand why the new job opportunity is enticing.

I'd tell them ever so nicely that they can keep paying him his current rate at the position they are "requesting" he move to or you will call an employee benefits lawyer. Heck, I might call one anyways if everything you said is true. If they have evidence of the conflicting reviews, access to the test scores, etc this is a pretty cut and dry case.
