I want to wear make, but I'm afraid of the chemicals.

I have avoided makeup for years because I am afraid of all of the chemicals in them, but I'd really like to be able to wear it every now and again. Are there any brands of makeup that are really "safe"?

Check out Skin Deep too (http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/). I love that they show you everything in a product and then link to the research completed so you can make your own assessment. I too am looking to switch to a makeup with little to no chemicals.

I used to wear makeup, and then I read some study about lipstick containing all of these cancer causing ingredients and got freaked out and threw everything away

I love Dr. Hauschka. It`s a little pricy, but all ingredients are biodynamicly grown, which goes beyond organic. And since you wanna use it just once in a while it lasts very long.

Bare minerals is still chemicals. Some big baddies in there.

Google Paulas Choice Beautypedia. There is no nonsense info on all the ingredients in almost any cosmetic you can think of. There's also a good article on why mineral makeup is just makeup without the water and usually no better (and often worse) for your skin and the environment. One common ingredient is a byproduct of strip mining, if I recall correctly.

I just checked out their website. The prices actually seem reasonable! You don't always find that with natural products.
So glad I came across this thread. I have been wanting to try natural makeup and hair care products. Thanks for the tip!
