Anyone here do Classical Education?

I'd love to start a thread and chat a bit. I'm reading "The Well-Trained Mind" by Wise-Bauer and preparing for Classical homeschooling.

My brother teaches at a Classical ed. school and I LOVE it!

Anyone else?

We will be going that route. Since they recommend not really starting the "good stuff" till 8 we're just working on the memorization. We have a school here that teaches the Trivium. It looks amazing, something I would have dreamed of going to as a kid.

We are gearing towards Classical. There aren't any schools around here that teach in Trivium, so if we decide to send our kids to public school, we will have to supplement at home.

Where are you? Which school are you looking at?

What kind of memorization are you doing now?

Re: Anyone here do Classical Education?

We are planning on doing Classical Education at home, but dd's are just 3 and 1.5, so right now we are just playing and doing puzzles, crafts, etc.

Re: Anyone here do Classical Education?

We are doing classical, and most of our curriculum is from suggestions from the well-trained mind. Have you been to the website for that? There are some really wonderful mamas over there who can answer any questions you think of! It is at www.welltrainedmind.com.

My older kids are almost 7 and 4 1/2. We will be doing a mix of 1st/2nd grade and kindergarten this year. I'm in full planning stages right now! I think I've got all our curriculum figured out, just need to get it all planned out on paper now!
